Welcome to Type A Travel Plans!

Hello there! I'm Amberleigh.

Embarking on this blogging journey, I'm excited to connect with you and share my experiences and insights around travel. A true Southern California native, I spent my formative years in Dana Point before making my way to Lake Forest. I live with my husband Daniel and Kenobi, our spirited husky.

A former art teacher turned designer and virtual assistant for creative businesses, I've discovered a career path that grants me the freedom to indulge my passion for travel. My childhood memories are filled with annual visits to Idaho, road trips with my grandparents, and adventurous treks outdoors with my dad. In high school and college, my travels included exploring Mexico and cruising the Caribbean to a transformative summer in France, awakening a thirst for both local and global exploration.

Studying in France at an international school with others from around the US made me realize that there were vast corners of the U.S. I had yet to discover, sparking a personal mission to visit every state. International travels beckoned too, with England, Ireland, and Italy checked off my list. Stateside, I've explored Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Massachusetts, and New York, each destination etching its unique story into my travelogue.

Within my family dynamic, I've assumed the role of the planner, driven by a Type A personality that revels in organization and research. Crafting itineraries for friends and family brings me immense joy, and lucky for me, my husband Daniel is a go-with-the-flow travel companion. As the organizer of his design agency's business retreats and our personal travels, I've honed my skills as the go-to person for local recommendations and seamless travel coordination.

For me, the recipe for a successful trip involves a dash of research and an understanding of your travel companions. My husband, for instance, thrives on a filled itinerary, provided it revolves around tasty cuisine, a bonus if it includes ice cream. When charting my adventures, I seek out charming coffee shops, bookstores, and one-of-a-kind boutiques. I hope this blog becomes a helpful trove of resources, making your travels a little more fun and organized. Thanks for joining me on my adventures and including me in yours.
